AITT Appoints New General Manager
AITT would like to welcome Adam Smith as our new General Manager who starts his role on 9th April 2018. Adam Smith, who has a richly experienced career in workplace transport training, joins the Association of Industrial Truck Trainers with the aim of increasing membership, providing even greater support for existing members and bringing new ideas based on a close understanding of the needs of instructors who deliver the training. In addition to this, Adam will contribute to the development of the of the Accrediting Bodies Association (ABA) Workplace Transport. Announcing the appointment, AITT Chairman Mark Asplen said: “I believe we have the ideal candidate in Adam Smith. He brings a wealth of experience in the sphere of MHE training having worked at senior level for both an international manufacturer and a leading national training provider within this sector.
“We believe his drive and enthusiasm allied to his extensive understanding of training at a practical level will be invaluable in driving this organisation forward and in ensuring that we sustain our ever-expanding membership. He will develop and deliver standards that are recognised as the benchmark for our industry.”
Following his appointment Mr Smith said: ”I am very excited to be taking on this role for AITT. As a not-for-profit organisation run by a membership that embraces not only training companies but also fork lift manufacturers and end-user companies, AITT has a unique perspective on all aspects of training. The input from our membership is what sets us apart and gives us a sharper focus on trainers’ requirements.”
Married, with two children, Adam has a keen interest in Formula 1 racing and confesses to supporting Leeds United (“someone has to!”)
