AITT recruits Technical Manager to support growth

Leading accrediting body for the materials handling industry, AITT (the Association of Industrial Truck Trainers), has further strengthened its support capability with the appointment of a new Technical Manager.

Liam Knight joins AITT with a wealth of front-line experience much of it focused on materials handling. In his previous position in the training department of one of the UK’s largest hauliers, Liam’s role involved managing not only MHE and health and safety training, but also new employee inductions; administering the apprenticeship levy; and supervising the company’s learning management systems.

Announcing the appointment, Adam Smith, Managing Director of AITT said: “We are delighted to have Liam join the team. As the fastest-growing accrediting body in our sector we have achieved 209% growth over the past 3 years. It was important, therefore, to recruit someone with the skills to drive that expansion while sustaining our market-leading reputation for responsiveness, technical excellence and outstanding customer support.”

As Technical Manager, Liam’s primary responsibilities will be to: manage AITT’s team of auditors (TSAs); arrange and plan audits with training providers; conduct audits of training providers; and support the development and continuous improvement of training standards.

Since his arrival, Liam has been impressed by the quality of the team he is joining. He says: “AITT is really committed to supporting the members and training providers. I’m looking forward to experiencing the world of materials handling from the perspective of an accrediting body.

“My experience working on the other side of the business means I can readily identify with the issues facing training providers and should enable me forge strong relationships with everyone from manufacturers to the smallest training provider.”

Liam’s arrival is just the latest in a number of new appointments at AITT.

Adam Smith confirms: “In order to maintain the high level of customer service we offer to our members, it was critical we reinforced our operational team. Our new Office Administrator is responsible for processing registrations for AITT’s game-changing ACORNS system, managing the online store and handling orders, and they have proven to be an important addition to our organisation.”
